>TEDWORTH TEAM SUCCESSES MAY - AUGUST !
> ************************************
> We took a number of teams to the Craven Inter-Pony Club Show Jumping at
> Newbury Showground on Saturday 29th May and enjoyed considerable success.
> In class 1 (70-75cm) we entered 2 teams - the Red team consisting of Barnaby
> Symons, Freya Renwick, Katie Meehan and Ned Marriott were placed 4th with 2
> lovely double clears from Freya and Katie - while the Blue team Chelsea
> Pearce, Harrison Hatteea, India and Ben Ryder came a very close 2nd with 4
> speedy double clears (just pipped at the post by a slightly older more
> experienced Vine team!). Harrison and Chelsea were also placed individually
> 4th and 5th respectively in this class. Then in class 2 80-85cm we entered
> 2 teams who again were both placed. The Green team consisting of Chelsea
> Pearce, Harrison Hatteea, India Ryder and Ben Ryder produced another 4
> double clears to be placed a very close 2nd again - with Chelsea and
> Harrison being placed 6th and 3rd individually again which was very
> impressive while the Blue team - Barnaby Symons, Katie Meehan, Ned Marriott
> and Saskia Debenham - the latter two producing 2 double clears this time -
> were placed 5th in this class. To have both teams in the top 6 in each
> class was a great achievement particularly in class 2 which was huge! Also
> there were 5 out of the 8 on new ponies competing in their first Pony Club
> show jumping competition and it was wonderful to see them all bonding so
> well first time out given the very short time they have had to get to know
> each other. Ocky and Minty Woolger also took part individually putting in
> some great rounds too!
>
> Then on to class 3 90-95cm in which we entered a team consisting of Holly
> Armstrong, Louis Raymont, India and Saskia Debenham who put in some great
> double clears to be placed 2nd overall again!! Holly was also placed 6th
> individually.... Class 1m-105m was very late in the day after plenty of
> rain and was moved to another arena which didnot produce a very flowing
> course... a few poles rolled putting the team of Holly, Louis and India out
> of contention but all good experience....
>
> VERY WELL DONE TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART - SOME SUPERB COMPETITION RIDING
> FROM OUR TEDWORTH SHOWJUMPERS!
>
> NOV, INT, OPEN AREA SHOW JUMPING, NEWBURY SHOWGROUND, 27TH JULY 2010
> ==================================================================
>
> We took several teams to this year's Show Jumping Areas - Novice,
> Intermediate and Open.
>
> In the Novice we had 3 teams Occie Woolger, Saskia Debenham, Issy Warner;
> India Debenham, Claudia Cox, India Ryder, Harrison Hatteea; Chelsea Pearce,
> Issy Brooks, Josh Perkins, Minty Woolger. In the first round we rolled just
> one pole between all 3 teams then in the second round Occie, Saskia, India R
> and Issy went clear again to go into the 3rd round jump off with the
> majority of the other members having an unlucky 4 faults. It was a huge
> class with over 100 competitors and Occie ended up riding some excellent
> lines to produce a stunning jump off round to win the individual
> competition! India R came 5th with another great triple clear and Saskia
> and Issy also rode triple clears to come 6th and 7th respectively which was
> an amazing result considering the competition! We saw some great rounds
> ridden by everyone and all the teams should be very proud of their
> achievement particularly since it was their first attempt at this level with
> many brand new combinations - so CONGRATULATIONS to all! Occie and India R
> ended up qualifying for the National Novice Champs up in Cheshire which was
> very exciting!
>
> We had one team in the Intermediate - Heni Hine, Becky Rickman, Cally
> Quigley and Louis Raymont. They had 3 clears in the first round and
> produced some fabulous riding over the 2 very demanding full up courses with
> just 4 faults carried forward after the two rounds. Heni and Becky went
> through with double clears to the 3rd round jump off where each of them rode
> superbly. Heni went clear to be placed 4th individually while Becky just
> had a pole down and came a very creditable 7th. The team as a whole came 3rd
> which was fantastic, and oh so narrowly missing qualification for the
> Champs!
>
> Millie Janes took part in the Open as an individual and in a mixed pony club
> team and did a lovely clear first round over a full up demanding course. Her
> team was placed 6th overall and Millie came 10th individually so very well
> done to both Smartie and Millie!! Moreover Smartie (and Millie!) both lived
> up to his name to come 3rd in the team tack and turnout out competition!

>
> JUNIOR AREA SHOW JUMPING, CASTLE CARY, SOMERSET, 24TH AUGUST 2010
> ==============================================================
>
> Yet again we had a good turnout for this year's Junior Area competition
> which was even more hotly contested than last year! Isabelle Brooks, Minty
> Woolger, Daisy Oliver and Harrison Hatteea made up the Orange team who all
> did double clears and went through to the 3rd round jump off. Issy and
> Minty did very well to go through with a triple clear and Issy came a
> brilliant 10th individually overall having taken some great lines to
> produce a good fast jump off time so very well done to Issy as this was an
> extremely competitive Areas. Moreover our Turquoise team of Freya Renwick,
> Katie Meehan, Zam Bradstock and Poppy Blokland did superbly well to produce
> 4 TRIPLE CLEARS and were placed 9th overall - this was a fabulous
> achievement and all should be congratulated on their riding skills to have
> performed so consistently on the day. A particular mention should go to
> Freya who was competing at her first Areas and was the youngest of our
> competitors - very well done Freya! Under normal circumstances this
> turquoise team would have been placed in the top 8 having achieved the 4
> triple clears but unfortunately this year there were a lot of very speedy
> combinations from other pony clubs who clearly had a lot of show jumping
> experience which meant they ended up dominating the placings! Never mind -
> we will do even better next year and give them another "run for their
> money"!!!!!

> THE PONY CLUB NOVICE SHOW JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS, 28TH AUGUST 2010
>
> ==============================================================================
>
> Last weekend Occie Woolger and India Ryder made the trek north up to
> Cheshire for the Novice Show Jumping Championships at Kelsall Hill
> Equestrian Centre. Despite taking an excessive 7 hours to get there due to
> various traffic incidents on the M6 they arrived safely on the Friday to
> settle their ponies in for the night on site. They were competing as
> individuals having qualified at the areas a few weeks earlier. Both the
> team and individual show jumping rings were purposefully sited on very
> undulating ground so the courses were considerably up hill and down dale.
> Having to manage this aspect as well as the technical certainly caught out
> many riders but not so for the TEDWORTH riders!!! First of all Occie
> reproduced her Areas form with a tremendous consistent triple clear to
> finish 6th overall against the best of the Pony Club Novice individual
> riders in the country. VERY WELL DONE OCCIE! India too did a fantastic
> job to turn in a lovely double clear but just rolled a pole in the jump off
> and was placed a very creditable 12th overall. For both of them the Areas
> was their debut at Pony Club Novice Show Jumping so all credit to them for
> coping with the big occasion and big tricky courses which caught out so
> many much more experienced riders. To put this in perspective there were
> only 12 double clears in the class who went through to the jump off out of
> the 73 qualifiers in the class which shows how demanding the courses were so
> to have 2 from the TEDWORTH in that line up was a feat in itself!!!
>
>
> Hine news!
> ==========
> After her great performance at the Areas Heni Hine went on to win a BE 80 at
> Mattingly on an 18 dressage on her super young mare (6yr old) Zilona who she
> has not had for long. They were also 2nd at Aston Le Walls intro so proving
> to be thoroughly consistent in their first season eventing together. To add
> to this they competed at the Hickstead National Inter-Schools competition
> for Millfield where the team were placed 3rd out of 70 which took part.
> Heni and Zilona rose to the occasion and put in some super rounds and making
> it through to the main arena.
>
> Also congratulations are in order for Heni as she has just passed her 'B'
> Test so very well done to her!
>
> And now for something completely different.........Georgie Hine, Heni's
> older sister who is currently working for Charlotte Martin, the event rider
> based at Chilton Foliat, has taken up a completely different sport requiring
> serious precision and nerves of steel - she is now a fully fledged rally
> driver and loves it! She still rides out and schools for Charlotte as well
> as carrying on with her teaching so there is clearly never a dull moment in
> her life - way to go Georgie!
>
>
>
>
> AND FINALLY GOING FORWARD.....
> We have some great talent coming up through the Tedworth at the moment and
> the year ahead looks set to be an exciting one with so many more of you
> getting out and about competing. There is no substitute for competition
> experience so the more you can do the better whether it be dressage, show
> jumping or cross country.
>
> Do look out for up and coming team/individual competitons via email/pc
> website and if you hear of any that have not already been flagged up on the
> Tedworth calendar do get in touch with either Philippa Martin , Mary Quigley
> or Natascha Ryder (
n.ryder@homecall.co.uk ) so that they can put these on
> the website or even circulate info re the team competitions. Many thanks!
